Mardi Gras Varadero, a state of mind as well as a festival of increasing importance in Cuba. The historical ties between France, New Orleans, Havana and Cuba are many, Spain ruled Louisiana from 1763 until 1800. "Mardi Gras", in French, literally means, "Fat Tuesday". Mardi Gras precedes the forty (40) day fast of Lent which begins on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent marking the Easter season.
From January 6th or Twelfth Night (Three Kings' Night) until the beginning of Lent (Ash Wednesday), Mardi Gras is celebrated around the World.
